Date Established and Background
National Stroke Association of Malaysia or NASAM registered itself with the Registry of Societies to form a non-profit organisation in 1996 with the aim to provide rehab services to enable stroke survivors to return to as normal a life as possible within the limits of their disabilities and promote the concept of stroke prevention by raising public awareness on the risk of stroke.

Vision
NASAM's vision is to serve stroke survivors throughout Malaysia, so that they may have ready access to rehabilitation facilities and services wherever they may be in the country. It is NASAM's intention to bridge the existing gap that fails to fully prepare stroke survivors adequately for rehabilitation after they have been treated in hospitals for their medical conditions and their return to their homes. Their long-term goal is to set up a NASAM centre in every major town in Malaysia.
Mission
NASAM's mission is to inform the public that there is Life After Stroke through proper rehabilitation and to promote the concept of stroke prevention.
Management and Staff
Headquarters
NASAM Board comprises of 9 members. The members are elected for a two-year term.They can choose to be re-elected for subsequent terms.
Management staff in the HQ comprises of 1 Manager, 1 Assistant Manager and 1 Accounts Assistant.
Rehab staff in HQ comprises of 1 Rehab coordinator, 2 Physiotherapists, 1 Speech therapist (part time), 1 Occuptational therapist (part time) and 1 Consultant physiotherapist (part time).
Stroke Clubs
NASAM currently is operating 6 stroke clubs besides the one in the HQ in PJ.
Each stroke club is managed by a committee of 5 volunteers comprising of the Chairman, Deputy Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary and 1 committee member.
The Chairman is appointed by the Founder Chairman of NASAM. The committee chairman than appoints his/her own committee members.
Each club has a full time administrative assistant ie six Admin. Assistants are employed for the six clubs.
A total of 7 full time physiotherapists are employed for all the clubs.

Funding Needs
All the clubs are funded by donations received from the public and from events organised by each of the club.Their annual budget to run 7 clubs is approx RM1.4 million.Their main activities are:
